CentEast in Beijing 2016
In April 2016, for the third time, CentEast were presented at the Beijing Film Market, part of the Beijing International Film Festival, as CentEast in Beijing. Central and Eastern European works-in-progress selected for CentEast Market Warsaw and Moscow in October 2015 were presented to the industry guests of the Beijing Film Market.
The presence of Eastern European films in Beijing was possibile thanks to collaboration between the Warsaw Film Foundation and its Chinese partners – Film Factory and Beijing Film Market within the framework of China-Eastern Europe Film Promotion Project, launched in 2013.
Thanks to this cooperation, for the third time, a selection of completed new Chinese films and works-in-progress was presented at CentEast in October 2015 to international industry guests of CentEast Market Warsaw.
CentEast in Beijing 2014
CentEast presentations of Eastern European works-in-progress, were part of the Beijing Film Market for the first time on Thursday, 17th April 2014. Apart from getting aquainted with the selected works-in-progress, market participants were able to attend special screenings of two films presented at the 29th Warsaw Film Festival - „Tangerines” by Zaza Urushadze (Winner of the Best Director and the Audience Award) and „The Geographer Drank His Globe Away” by Alexander Veledinsky, awarded at numerous festivals. Promotional activities were held at the CentEast in Beijing stand at the Market.
China-Eastern Europe Film Promotion Project
The aim of the China-Eastern Europe Film Promotion Project (CEEFPP) is to encourage long-term relationship and cultural exchange between Chinese and Eastern European film professionals and to facilitate the mutual promotional activities in the area of film between China and Eastern Europe.
The partners involved in CEEFPP are Warsaw Film Foundation, based in Warsaw, Poland as well as Beijing Film Market and Film Factory, based in Beijing, China. Beijing Film Market (BFM, bfm.bjiff.com) is a trade and communication platform of the world film industry, which accompanies the Beijing International Film Festival (www.bjiff.com), held every April since 2011. Film Factory (www.filmfactory.cn), run by Beijing Good Film Culture Center, is a social networking platform dedicated to the support of independent filmmaking in China and acts as a hub of the independent filmmakers.
